HAWTHORNE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL PRESCHOOL

The Preschool program provides center-based educational services for children ages 3 to 5-years-old using an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) approach. Evidence-based assessment and interventions are utilized to design individualized lesson plans for each student. Teachers and Licensed Behavior Analysts collect data to evaluate performance. Our ABA approach encompasses the analysis of verbal behavior from empirically-based research. Student’s strengths, deficits and preferences are frequently reevaluated. The Preschool program strives to provide a collaborative approach to education with teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and Behavior Analysts working together to prepare students for the least restrictive environment.

The preschool operates year-round, Monday through Friday 8:30am-2:00pm. A six week summer program is available in July in August. The program is located on the Westchester campus in Hawthorne.

Parent Involvement Committee

Welcome to the Parent Involvement Committee!

Established in 2018, our mission is to engage, empower, and embrace parents and caregivers in partnership with our preschool and the Hawthorne Foundation community.  We seek to develop relationships with families through this informal committee that only requires time when parents can give it – opportunities for helping our school and becoming involved occur throughout the school year, during special programs, holiday fun days, and fundraising activities.  Diana Roberts, teaching assistant in Pre K 10, is the coordinator of our Parent Involvement Committee and welcomes all parents and caregivers to join!

Parent Education

Our Parent Education program consists of team meetings with teachers, therapists and Behavior Analysts. Monthly trainings are scheduled to help parents learn how to assist students in generalizing skills from school to home to community. Parents can join our Parent Involvement committee to assist with special events and fundraising.
