Specific Position Titles/Requirements

 

Direct Support Professional-Residential

Primary responsibilities include providing direct care and residential guidance/supports for individuals living with intellectual and other disabilities within an open-access community setting.  Associates Degree preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 1 year experience working with children or adults with developmental disabilities required. Valid driver’s license.

 

Assistant to Residential Manager

Assists Manager to supervise and coordinate efforts of staff assigned to the house.  Bachelor’s degree in Human Services required. Two years of supervisory experience (in a residential setting) preferred.

 

RN (Registered Nurses) School and Community

Ensure retention, review and maintain health and immunization records.  Bachelor’s degree. Certification by the Department of Education, State of New York as a Registered Nurse.

 

Day Habilitation Direct Support Professional

Directly responsible for specific group assigned and specific individuals. Responsible for implementation and collection of date of daily and weekly programs assigned by supervisor for each individual in assigned group.  Minimum HS Diploma or GED required. Prior experience with Developmentally Disabled preferred. Valid Driver’s License

 

Day Habilitation Specialist

Participates in the development, writing and implementation of the Life Plan/Staff Action Plan.  Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field, Special Education or Psychology. Valid Driver’s license. Prior experience with developmentally disabled

 

Day Habilitation Program Developer

Ongoing review of Life Plans to ensure appropriateness of placement, goals and objectives, educational methods, and related services for individuals. Reviews Residential and/or Day Habilitation Staff Action Plans to ensure compliance with existing regulations and agency philosophy.  Master’s Degree preferred in Education or Behavior Psychology with experience in OPWDD.

 

Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)

Responsible for all Hawthorne Foundation Inc. clinical programs and oversees all Behavioral Analysts working in OPWDD programs.  Minimum 5 years experience with the developmentally disabled population. Minimum two years supervisory experience. NYS Behavior Analyst License preferred.

 

Residence Manager

Supervise and coordinate efforts of staff assigned to the residence.  Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Social Services, Psychology and/or Human Development.  Two years experience with the adult disabled.  CPR/AED, SCIP-R, AMAP Certified

 

Program Coordinator

Supervises and coordinates efforts of staff assigned to the Program. Develops weekly and daily programs with the Program Planning Team.  Master of Arts Degree Preferred in Special Education, Behavioral Science, Psychology, and/or Human Development. 3-5 years supervisory experience (in a residential, day habilitation or educational setting preferred.) Valid driver’s license.

1:1 Aide-(Preschool and School Age)

Work directly with students and assisting in the implementation of daily and weekly programs in communication, academic, social behaviors as assigned by teachers/school supervisors.  High school Diploma and genuine interest in teaching is required.

 

Teacher’s Assistant/Paraprofessional (Preschool and School Age)

Provide instructional and other supports to students with intellectual/developmental disabilities in Pre-K  -12 learning environment, under the direction of a certified special education teacher.  Associate Degree from accredited college or 48 credits at a 4 year accredited college preferred. Minimum High School Diploma. Current NYSED Teacher Assistant Certification OR Certification obtained within 3 months of employment. Experience with developmentally disabled a plus.

 

Special Education Teacher (Preschool and School Age)

Provide direct instructional, evaluative, and supervisory services to all students to ensure the quality of classroom programs.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (Master's preferred), NYS certification as a Special Educator, and familiarity with current instructional and assessment practices. NYSED and NYC Department of Education Clearance.

 

BCBA/LBA/Senior Teacher (Preschool and School Age)

Supervise and guide teachers in the application of behavioral techniques.  New York State Teaching Certificate-Special Education and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and/or NYS Office of Professions Behavior Analyst Licensure required.

School Building Leader (SBL) Certification a plus.

School Coordinator

Provides overall administrative supervision of all personnel. Insures implementation of personnel procedures as they relate to hiring, dismissal and disciplinary actions.  Masters Degree. New York Teaching Certificate-Special Education, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and/or NYS Office of Professions Behavior Analyst Licensure, New York State Certification in School Building Leader (SBL) Certification or New York State Certification in School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) Certification. Experience in school intervention, educational research and teacher training.

 

Related Services

  • Speech Therapist- New York State Teaching Certificate-Speech & Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) or Speech and Language Disabilities (TSLD). NYS SLP Licensure/CCC
